Thanksgiving Edition: Thankful for Starting Over and Divorce

Getting divorced is not easy. It is costly, both financially and emotionally. It can be a long road, seemingly without an end. But when it ends, and a divorce judgment is entered, people can start over. Although that may be daunting, it can also be a time of opportunity.

Thanksgiving is a time for giving thanks. It it may be counter-intuitive to be thankful for divorce, but on this reddit page, people going through a divorce, or who are divorced, wrote about things for which they are thankful. Below are some interesting comments:

• Resilience. It is amazing how resilient we are as human beings. I am feeling myself grow through this. I am watching my children manage this with grace and grit. We are just trying to love each other through it.

• I’m grateful for the amazingly awesome support network that got me through and for the love I have in my life.

• I am so very thankful for getting rid of a very toxic person.

• I’m thankful for finally getting paid for being the stay at home parent.
